La Liga clubs named in Doping Scandal ...
barcelona, real madrid, real betis and valencia have all apparently been named in a cyclone doping scandal involving a frech doctor by the name of Eufemanio Fuentes.

the story is below ...

All the Spanish clubs implicated in reports by a French newspaper have issued strong denials that they were linked with Dr Eufemanio Fuentes, who is at the centre of a cycling doping scandal.

Barcelona, Real Madrid, Valencia and Real Betis were all connected to Doctor Eufemanio Fuentes in papers that Le Monde claims it has obtained.

Fuentes is under investigation after anabolic steroids, laboratory equipment used for blood transfusions and more than 100 bags of frozen blood were found in raids in Spain.

As the case goes on, the doctor has now stated that he not only worked with cyclists, but also with football clubs, tennis players and athletes.

The head of medical services at Barcelona, Jordi Ardevol, dismissed any connection with Fuentes.

"I categorically deny that we have had any type of relationship with Doctor Eufemaino Fuentes during my time here," he said.

"We have never had a relationship. I know who he is and I think he, probably, knows who I am, but we have never had any direct contact.

"I can also say that I know that no play, to my knowledge or to the knowledge of the club's medical staff, has ever had any type of relationship with his doctor."

Real Madrid also moved to distance themselves from any knowledge of the shamed medic and issued a statement that read: "Real Madrid have no links with Eufemiano Fuentes and never have done.

"None of our players can go to another doctor without the permission of the club, and no one has asked permission to be treated by him."

In turn, Valencia also claimed that they "have had absolutely no relationship with Fuentes and this club has never had any connection to doping cases", while Real Betis issued a similar statement.

Fuentes has refused to name the clubs outright after revealing that he has received death threats to prevent him from revealing anything.

"I was told that if I said certain things, my family and myself could have serious problems", he added in an interview released on Thursday. "I've been threatened three times and it's not going to happen a fourth time."

The current investigation is linked to cycling but Fuentes repeated in the interview that he had also worked for football clubs, athletes and tennis players.

"I can't say, I have received death threats," he said. "I was told that if I said certain things, my family and myself could have serious problems"

"I've been threatened three times and it's not going to happen a fourth time."

He did reveal that he has had links with club in la Primera though and even stated that he worked with players on a one-to-one basis.

"I worked with Spanish first and second division clubs," he continued. "I worked with several clubs at the same time, sometimes directly with the players, sometimes by sharing knowledge with the clubs' doctors."
