Tottenham Hotspur Vs Newcastle United
Quote:
Tottenham and Newcastle will both be seeking their first win of 2007 when they clash at White Hart Lane on Sunday, live on Sky Sports 1.

Spurs have struggled to regain their momentum since losing 3-1 at Newcastle before Christmas, and were held to a surprise 0-0 draw in the FA Cup by Cardiff last week.

The Magpies also failed to see off Championship opponents in the FA Cup as they drew 2-2 with Birmingham, and Glenn Roeder's side have not won since beating Tottenham.

However, they will have been encouraged by the 2-2 draw with Manchester United on New Year's Day and will be confident of climbing into the top half of the table over the coming weeks.

Tottenham are seven points behind fourth-placed Arsenal in the race for UEFA Champions League qualification, and will be desperate to recapture their stunning home form after losing to Liverpool in their last game at White Hart Lane.

Aaron Lennon is set to return to the Spurs starting line-up after appearing as a substitute against Cardiff.

Robbie Keane, who suffered medial ligament damage against Middlesbrough on 5th December, also returned to action late on at Ninian Park and may come into the side.

Ledley King has returned to training after missing the last three games due to injury, but Calum Davenport and Michael Dawson will continue in central defence if he is not ready to play.

Newcastle are once again set to be without several of their first-choice players, with Olivier Bernard (hip), Craig Moore (hamstring), Stephen Carr (foot) and Celestine Babayaro (hamstring) all nursing injuries.

Jermaine Jenas will also be absent due to an ankle problem, but Scott Parker returns from suspension and Emre (groin) could be risked.

The likes of Paul Huntington, David Edgar and Matthew Pattison could once again be pressed into action.

Skysports.com Prediction: 2-1
Tottenham to return to winning ways against the injury-ravaged Magpies.

Layer to watch: Aaron Lennon

it'll be a hard game, so i'll say 1-1 Very Happy

lol newcastle is bad this year too. i'd say 5-0 is a pretty unrealistic win for tottenham against any team... none the less one that just beat blackburn 2-0 a man down and liverpool twice in teh past 2 weeks without numerous key players in the back...

I remind you we have already won 5-1 this season, and we killed Newcastle and was unlucky by all sources to lose, we should have won by far and if you watched it you would know.

As for Spurs Arsenal, I again remind you Wenger's comments, we will play kids, do you reckon kids would get anywhere near the 1st team of Spurs, despite most of them being young. Spurs will cain you at the lane, its only up to you to see if you can make it back at the gravestone, with 9k mad fans against 51k prawn sandwich eaters
