Donadoni Still Unsure Over Del Piero There has been much speculation and hype regarding Pinturicchio and the possibility of playing in Austria and Switzerland. The Juventus icon has been in stunning form this season and many want to see him go.
Even the Italian press launched a campaign for him to be part of the squad. But it seems as if Donadoni isn’t listening.
“It’s normal for Del Piero to aim for the National team, after all he’s a footballer not a fruit and veg man,” Donadoni told Radio Italia 7 Gold.
“It’s every footballer’s wish to play for the national side, but it’s the journalists who make it such a big problem.
“The league still has not finished and there are still a lot of important games, so I am expecting those who are doing well to continue doing so.”
The coach also had some words regarding the incident involving Francesco Totti and Mario Rizzoli last week.
“Everything can happen in a game, especially between players, refs and coaches.
“I think they should all have respect for each other.”
Del Piero is in with a shout of the Euros but so is Marco Borriello of Genoa. The Grifoni hit man currently leads the top scorers chart in Serie A and is likely to be included for Donadoni’s final 23 man squad. As for Del Piero, only Donadoni holds the answer. |
