Aston Villa complete signing of Arsenal keeper Taylor
Aston Villa have completed the signing of goalkeeper Stuart Taylor from Arsenal.
The 24-year-old has agreed a four-year deal with Villa
Taylor moves after 10 years at Arsenal, during which time he made only occasional first-team appearances.
| Quote: | Taylor told the club's official website: "This is all about career progression for me.
"Obviously I'm still young in goalkeeping terms, but I still want to push on and progress.
"It was no good for me to stay at Arsenal to sit around and do nothing. I've come to Aston Villa as the number two, but obviously I want to push for a place.
"My aim is to move on in my career and progress. That's why I'm here.
"Thomas is a great goalkeeper. I've seen him play and obviously he's a fantastic player but it's up to me to push him all the way.
"This is a new start for me. I enjoyed my time at Arsenal, but it's time to move on.
"I've come to Aston Villa, another massive club with a big fan base. So this is a fresh start for me and I'm looking forward to it."

Middlesbrough complete signing of Bayer Leverkusen's Pogatetz
By Ian Ferris - June 29, 2005
Middlesbrough have signed Austrian international defender Emanuel Pogatetz on a five-year deal for a fee which could rise to £1.8m.
The 22-year-old will arrive from Bayer Leverkusen on 1 July after Boro agreed a fee with the German side.
Boro boss Steve McClaren said: "Emanuel has impressive international and European experience for a lad of his age.
"But he is only 22 and can go on improving, so we are looking to the future. We are trying to create competition for places throughout the team, which is something we lacked last season.
"We want to avoid getting into the situation we had last season when we wanted to rest senior players but didn't have cover for injuries.
"The fact that Emanuel can play either as a full-back or in the centre of defence is a big bonus." |
