Fulham FC have signed Iceland striker Heidar Helguson for €1.7m from Watford FC.
Instant success
The 27-year-old was eager to return to the English Premiership, where he played in the 1999/00 season after joining Watford for €2.3m in January 2000. He scored six goals in 16 appearances that campaign, although he could not stop the club being relegated to the first division, where they have since remained.
London calling
Helguson, who scored 20 goals last term, had been linked with moves to Premiership sides Sunderland AFC and Wigan Athletic FC but could not resist a switch to Fulham. The former Lillestrøm SK forward said: "When the opportunity came along to return to the Premiership with Fulham, it was simply something that I could not turn down." Helguson has a four-year contract with the London team.

Edu tells arsenal to buy robhino GO FOR ROBINHO, EDU TELLS ARSENAL
Edu has urged former team Arsenal to sign his fellow Brazilian Robinho.
Arsenal are reportedly trying to lure 21-year-old Robinho away from Santos, and Edu feels the youngster would be a perfect fit for the Gunners.
| Quote: | "Arsenal have made a good choice to try and get him," said Edu. "With the amazing talent he has, he is a fantastic player. It is something that you don't find often. I am sure he will be happy wherever he ends up."
Edu admitted "time was right" for him to leave Arsenal for Valencia, where he not long ago signed a five-year deal.
"I left Arsenal just because I felt it was the right time to move," the 27-year-old revealed. "I have been playing there for almost five years. It is good to play in Spain and I hope to win as many titles as I did with Arsenal."
Asked about what he will miss most, he revealed: "For sure I will miss my friends which I had on the team. All were good friends and we had a great atmosphere in the group."
Edu claimed he "will always remember" his time at Highbury.
"I have good memories, memories I can never forget," he stated. "Like when we won the championship at Manchester United's Old Trafford. Or when I scored two goals in the Champions League against Celta Vigo. So I have been there for almost five years and we have won many titles - it feels very good."
The Brazilian midfielder has not played much of a role in Carlos Alberto Parreira's rotation during the Confederations Cup, where he has come on as a substitute just once in four matches.
No line-up changes are expected for the final against Argentina, but Edu is patiently waiting for another chance to shine.
"The others played well in the semi-finals against Germany so they deserve to get another chance," he stated.
He fancies Brazil's chances in Wednesday's clash with their arch-rivals.
"There are a lot of things involved in this final, a lot of responsibility. And we will see a lot of good players.
"I like when Brazil are under pressure because I think we play better then. We need to be aggressive."

Southampton boss Harry Redknapp says Nigel Quashie is not for sale and underlined his determination to hang on to his top stars.
Quashie, 26, has been linked with a move to West Ham but Redknapp insisted he will not let relegated Saints' best players be cherry-picked.
Redknapp told Radio Solent: "There's no chance of Nigel going anywhere."
"We're supposed to be losing Peter Crouch, Antti Niemi and anyone who's any good, but we have to keep them."
Redknapp brought Quashie from Portsmouth for £2.5m when he moved along the M27 last November.
The Scotland international is seen as an integral part in Redknapp's bid to bounce Southampton back into the Premiership.
Redknapp's pre-season preparations have been clouded by speculation and uncertainty surrounding his top players.
Quashie is the latest Saints star to be linked with a move away from St Mary's, along with strikers Crouch and Kevin Phillips, and keeper Niemi.
Saints have only received one bid for one of their players, a £5m offer from Liverpool for Crouch which was turned down. |

Milan linked with move for Van Nistelrooy:
Milan will attempt to sign Ruud Van Nistelrooy from Manchester United if they fail to extend Hernán Crespo's loan from Chelsea by the end of this week, according to Italian television.
The Parma striker Alberto Gilardino, who scored 46 goals in the last two Serie A campaigns, remains Milan's first choice even if they are unwilling to pay the £26m Parma are reported to have demanded for the 22-year old forward. Should they turn to Van Nistelrooy, Milan are reportedly ready to offer £10m and the Danish striker Jon Dahl Tomasson. |

The Spanish international has admitted an ambition to move to the Premiership this summer after dropping out of the first team reckoning last season under coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo.
Guti's agent has confirmed new offers have arrived for the midfielder, who has been linked with Arsenal and Liverpool in recent weeks.
Everton boss Dave Moyes is considering Guti as talks with Real Sociedad's Mikel Arteta stall |

Liverpool makes offer to Middlesbrough's Zenden
tribalfootball.com - June 29, 2005
Liverpool will make a contract offer to Middlesbrough winger Bolo Zenden this week.
The midfielder, 28, becomes a free agent on Friday after failing to agree a new contract at Middlesbrough. Benfica have been chasing him while Valencia, Werder Bremen and Galatasaray are also tracking Zenden.
But Kop boss Rafa Benitez plans to pip the rest by holding talks with the Dutchman in the next few days.
Boro want him to stay but Zenden's father, who is also his agent, believes he will agree a move within a week.
His dad Pierre insisted: "Money is not an issue for Boudewijn but where the club stands in terms of Champions League or UEFA Cup is really important.
"Boudewijn has had a great time at Middlesbrough.
"He would like to continue there but we don't know what will happen yet.
"We expect to announce something next week." |
