Newcastle Vs Liverpool
Quote:
Liverpool begin life under their new owners with a trip to Newcastle on Saturday.

The Reds get back to action on the pitch after George Gillett and Tom Hicks completed their takeover of the club earlier this week

Both sides are aiming to get back to winning ways after disappointing results last weekend.

The Reds saw their five-game winning run halted by last weekend's goalless draw with Merseyside rivals Everton, while Newcastle lost at Fulham.

Xabi Alonso misses out for Liverpool as he serves a suspension with Bolo Zenden and Mohamed Sissoko hoping to win a recall to the side in midfield.

Rafa Benitez must decide whether to stick with his three-pronged attack of Dirk Kuyt, Peter Crouch and former Magpie Craig Bellamy after they drew a blank against Everton last time out.

Fabio Aurelio looks set to miss out with a foot injury, but recent signing Alvaro Arbeloa is pushing for a place in the squad.

Newcastle boss Glenn Roeder still has a horrendous injury list to contend with for the visit of Liverpool.

Emre, Shay Given, Peter Ramage, Craig Moore, Shola Ameobi, Charles N'Zogbia and Michael Owen are all missing through injury.

Stephen Carr has joined the casualty list after being forced to withdraw from the Republic of Ireland squad in midweek with a thigh problem.

Celestine Babayaro is back in the squad after recovering from a hamstring injury and he could go straight into the side.

Kieron Dyer is available after coming through England's game with Spain without any ill-effects.

Skysports.com Prediction: 1-2
Reds can edge out Newcastle in a close game.

Player to watch: Craig Bellamy
