Ronaldo: I've learned my lesson Cristiano Ronaldo admits he has been guilty of going to the floor too easily in the past but is adamant he has now learned his lesson.
Ronaldo admits the mentality in England is different to the one he was used to on the continent with Sporting Lisbon.
The Portuguese wide man claims the leniency of English referees concerning robust challenges - a point also stressed by team-mate Wayne Rooney - has encouraged simulation.
But, despite claiming to have been on the receiving end of some rough treatment in the Premiership, Ronaldo is determined not to let it affect his game.
"I remember in the first year at United, I was criticised a lot for going to the floor too easily. That was an area of my game where I had to change quite fast," Ronaldo told the Daily Express.
"It was perhaps the biggest lesson I've learned in England. It's a different type of game in Portugal, but the rules should be the same everywhere.
"If it's a free-kick, the referee should give a free-kick. But here, referees choose to ignore fouls a lot of the time.
"The football is different here, with a different mentality and it's not just the players who have grown up with it, but the referees too.
"But I'm not going to stop trying to beat defenders in England. I don't think I should change. I have to be myself.
"Just because the referee doesn't give a free-kick or chooses not to send off someone who deserves it, doesn't mean I should become another player."

So what he is saying is:
"I dive so that I can get free kicks, if I didn’t make a meal of things I wouldn’t get any free kicks. Yes I am a cheat but you need to be to get the advantage in today’s premiership"
Or am I just too cynical? he’s a good player he doesn’t need to dive, just like drogba he’s a very good player but he thinks he’s in swan lake half time. |

Ronaldo is a two-footed player, allowing him to play anywhere up front: right, left or through the middle This has enabled Ronaldo and left winger Ryan Giggs to switch wings occasionally, helping Manchester United further confuse their opponents Ronaldo is renowned for his superb technical ability. Besides his trademark multiple step-overs, he also developed a wide array of flicks and skills, making him one of the most feared wingers in the Premier League His blistering pace enables him to accelerate past defenders, either down the wings or cutting into the middle, and he can strike powerful shots from outside the box as well as being adept at finishing from close-range. Ronaldo is extremely good in the air and has scored a fair number of headed goals, and he is currently Manchester United's first-choice penalty taker. Additionaly, his unique free kicks, dubbed the 'Ronaldo rockets are known for their fearsome swerve and dip His unique playing style is a far cry from traditional wingers of the past and he can perhaps best be described as a winger and a striker rolled into one |
