Liverpool's Robbie Fowler will make his final appearance at Anfield, but Jerzy Dudek's hopes of a farewell game looks in doubt because of a groin problem.
Jose Reina is struggling with a shoulder injury so Daniele Padelli will make his debut in goal, with youth team goalkeeper Dave Roberts on the bench.
Charlton are expected to hand a debut to Darren Randolph with on-loan keeper Scott Carson ineligible.
Full-back Ben Thatcher is back after a ban but Talal El Karkouri is injured.
Liverpool (from): Dudek, Finnan, Carragher, Hyypia, Agger, Arbeloa, Riise, Pennant, Gerrard, Alonso, Mascherano, Kewell, Gonzalez, Zenden, Bellamy, Kuyt, Crouch, Fowler, Paletta, Padelli, Hobbs, El Zhar, Insua.
Charlton (from): Randolph, Young, El Karkouri, Diawara, Hreidarsson, Zheng Zhi, Hughes, Holland, Song Billong, Sam, Ambrose, Marcus Bent, Hasselbaink, Darren Bent, Bougherra.
Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez:
"I hope Robbie Fowler scores in front of The Kop. That would be a good way for him to say goodbye to the fans.
"I want to say thank you to Robbie. He will play on Sunday and it's good the fans will have a chance to see him at Anfield before he leaves us.
"I know how much he means to the club and fans so it will be a special day."
Charlton manager Alan Pardew:
"The unfortunate thing for myself and Javier was that perhaps we didn't have enough time.
"I am very pleased for the success he has enjoyed at Liverpool.
"I am hoping his feelings are not dented by the fact I didn't give him many chances."
BIG-MATCH FACTS
LIVERPOOL still have a third place finish to secure from this final League match of the season, home to relegated Charlton. The European Cup finalists, who'll be facing AC Milan in Athens 10 days after this game, lead fourth placed Arsenal by a superior goal difference of two.
The Merseysiders have won twice as many League games as they've lost (20 to 10), and won as many as Charlton have lost (20). They've also posted 20 clean sheets in the top League. This is the Reds' 2,500th post war League match and victory will take them past the 1,000 Premiership points mark - making them the fourth club to reach such a landmark after Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea.
The Reds were involved in a two-horse race for second place with Manchester United, when they met Charlton at Anfield in March last year. Robbie Fowler had a goal disallowed as the clash ended scoreless. It was a different story at the Valley in December. The Merseysiders dominated from start to finish to win 0-3 and set up the possibility of a fourth Premiership 'double' over the Addicks, and first since 2004-05.
CHARLTON ATHLETIC end their seven-year tenure in the Premiership with this visit to Anfield. Failure to win would see the Addicks going down on their lowest ever Premiership points total, falling short of the 36 points recorded in the relegation season of 1998-99, when they finished in a club record low 18th spot.
The south east Londoners have managed three draws in a six-match sequence without a win, and picked up one point from the last available 12. They're also winless in six on the road since their only maximum away from the Valley, the 0-1 triumph at Portsmouth on 20 January.
The Addicks have not scored at Anfield, since Shaun Bartlett netted the solitary goal of their clash on 12 April 2004. It was Charlton's only victory in seven Premiership visits to the red part of Merseyside.

| Quote: | Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler's last league game for the club ended in a draw with Charlton as the Reds claimed third place in the Premiership.
Fowler's farewell started in disappointing style as Matt Holland's six-yard shot bobbled in.
Zheng Zhi missed two glorious chances for the visitors and they paid the price when Xabi Alonso slotted in.
Darren Bent volleyed in for Charlton before Harry Kewell converted a penalty just after Fowler's substitution.
Fowler, whose contract runs out in the summer, was made captain for the game and he was greeted rapturously as he led the Reds out.
But Charlton showed little regard for the occasion as they made Javier Mascherano pay for a misplaced pass in midfield by going on to score through Holland.
It should have been level when Addicks central defender Madjid Bougherra slipped and Alvaro Arbeloa had a free run on goal only to sidefoot wide.
Liverpool have a Champions League final to prepare for on 23 May and their minds already seemed distracted by that game as they put in a lacklustre performance.
The visitors were already relegated going into the game and were gifted several chances to end their seven-year spell in the Premiership on a positive note.
Ambrose scuffed a shot when unmarked before Bent felt he should have had a penalty for a Jamie Carragher push.

Bent then beat the offside trap and crossed into the six-yard box and, after the Reds failed to clear, Alexnadre Song saw shot was cleared off the line by Steve Finnan.
Zheng had two gilt-edged chances after the break but dinked a shot wide when one-on-one with Padelli and then headed wide from six yards.
Alonso equalised when he sidefooted in after Dirk Kuyt had nodded a Kewell cross back into the Spaniard's path.
Kewell struck the post and Fowler failed to take a chance before Bent volleyed in and Song hit the foot of the post for the visitors in a rousing finish.
Fowler could have made a fairytale finish after he was found unmarked at the far post by Kuyt but he skied a shot from close range.
He was substituted late on and was given a standing ovation but was left ruing his exit as Liverpool were awarded a penalty.
Bougherra was punished for handball and, with Fowler off the pitch, Kewell stepped up to score.
Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez:
"We wanted to pay tribute to Robbie and the supporters were fantastic as they always are.
"It was really good for a legend like him to say goodbye in front of the supporters. It was important to give him this opportunity
"It was not the best performance. We had chances but so did they. The team tactically and the movement, we were not playing at our level."
Charlton boss Alan Pardew:
"It would have been easy for us where we wallowed in self pity but we didn't. We came here and played with a smile on our faces.
"We should have won because we had so many chances.
"We've had a tough week. Me and my staff had to work hard to make sure everyone was in the right state of mind and the players were terrific.
