NEW LEAGUE FIXTURES UNVEILED
The Barclays Premier League fixtures for 2007/8 have been announced. Chelsea's opening game is against newly-promoted Birmingham City at Stamford Bridge.
The match is the chance to beat Liverpool's all-time top-flight record of 63 home games unbeaten, equalled at the end of last season.
The first away fixture the following Tuesday is at Reading and then there is a trip to one of the three venues where José Mourinho's side tasted league defeat last season - Anfield.
The away game against champions Manchester United comes early with September 22 the currently scheduled Old Trafford date. The return at the Bridge is late on, the third to last game on April 26.
The chances to avenge the other two league defeats of the last campaign, at Middlesbrough and Tottenham, are on October 20 and February 23 respectively.
We play Arsenal away in mid-December and at home in mid-March and with Liverpool at home on the second weekend of February, the games against the rest of last campaign's top four are spread out.
It is a London-based Christmas programme with Aston Villa at home on Boxing Day, Newcastle at home on December 29 and Fulham away on New Year's Day.
The league season concludes, as it began, with a home fixture. We play Bolton on May 11.
The initial selection of games to be rearranged for live television coverage will be announced shortly.
